I have been a mom for over half my life...I am 33 and I have a 17 year old! As a teen parent I have kept up on the bad rap that teen parents have and get.
This has nothing to do with being a teen parent though, I just wanted to give you a little background on me.
I am writing because I am concerned about the number of parents that 'forget' their children! I have wanted to forget mine...like when they are arguing with me, or have gotten in trouble...I would love to run away...but I know that I would come back because for as much as they make me angry, they make me laugh even more.
In the last few days, I have seen even more reports of children/babies being left in vehicles, and every time the parent says something to the effect of "OMG, I didn't realize they were in there" or "OMG, I forgot they were in there"
For 17 years, I have been a mom, and I can tell you that even though I now park in a garage overnight (I did not always) I look in my vehicle before I get in (safety, make sure no one is lurking to kidnap me or my kids) and when I get out, I always glance in the windows to make sure I have not forgotten anything...like my kids!
I just can't wrap my fingers around the concept of 'forgetting' my kids...It is tragic that these kids are dying in this manner...people need to slow down, stop and smell the roses and take the time to remember the little people and things that matter!
AMEN!
AMEN!
