Movie Log: 300: What's the big deal?

It's actually been a week since I saw 300 but the disappointment is still fresh in my mind. Seriously, this is the movie that's racking up hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office?

KU: Not exactly "One Shining Moment" material

Ugly, ugly, ugly. The beauty that was KU's offense on the first weekend of the tournament took a backseat to desperate, scrambling drives to the basket, butterfingers ballhandling and appallingly bad free throw shooting.

And they still won.

Movie Log: The Prestige

I've been a big Christopher Nolan fan ever since I saw Memento a few years ago. I checked out his latest, The Prestige, from Netflix the other day. Somewhat like the director's earlier film, Prestige does not take place in straight, concise chronological order. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale play rival magicians at the turn of century determined to top one another and gain the greater fame. By reading each other's journals at different points in the movie's timeline the plot is filled in and we discover why these men detest each other.

Feel the Madness!

Two quick things before I get to some basketball talk:

1) Some time in the near future every single Wes Craven and John Carpenter movie will be remade. In the past couple of weeks I have read about remakes of Halloween and Escape From New York. And with The Hills Have Eyes 2 out right now you see that it's all inevitable. For some reason this bugs me.

2) Has anybody else seen the TV ad for ESPN fantasy baseball featuring former Phillies star John Kruk doing his best Jack Black impression and Geddy Lee (yes, that Geddy Lee!) doing some vocal work. Totally bizarre.
