Nature's own Global Warming

Recently there have been articles and reviews on the melting Arctic ice and the warming temperatures.  While we may blame humans for "global warming," Nature itself has provide a much greater source of greenhouse gases in the form of "Burning Ice" (Methane Hydrates) that in the geological past have outgassed in massive amounts periodically into the atmosphere.  I will review the megatons of burning ice later on, but first there is a technical scientific issue to resolve.

Graduated Driver's License

In defense of Israel's right to defend itself, and why Palestinians love Hitler

Our family friends in Illinois lost kids to gun violence by killers in the 1960s.  But back then, the Democratic Administrations let these killers with guns go free?  Why?

They were "Palestinian" Arabs who were trying to shoot Jews and just happened to hit people nearby.  These terrorists were directed by Yassir Arafat.  You may not find any records, if at all, of these events, since there was whitewashing by political "kindness" to our Arab "friends."

Easter as viewed by people long ago

On Easter, there are bunnies that people think are cute and nice for kids, but the bunnies are nowhere in the Biblical celebration of the resurrection. From where did we get Easter bunnies? See the image of the rabbit in the moon (a commonality to many cultures of a sacred animal to the moon deity, such as in the ancient Mediterranean and Near East)

Newton Youth Center

I am interested in starting a teen center in Newton.  If you are interested in getting it started and off the ground please contact me.

Shut up and drive!

I've remained pretty silent over the past few weeks — in part because my schedule has been waaaaay out of control, and in part because the only thing I've really had on my mind is the whole smoking debate.

I'm sick of the whole thing. Can we move on to something else?

How about this one — GET OFF THE PHONE AND DRIVE!

I am so tired of following a slow poke, or someone not using their turn signals, only to see them chatting away on the phone while driving.

It can wait! For crying out loud, that converstation can wait. And if it can't, pull over!

Postive Attitude Equals Postive Profits

When I read the voices I wonder if all the negative energy that is put out there could be used in a positive way.  Many folks seem to have great ideas, thoughts but it seems they would rather be secretive.  I would like to see folks think of all the great things we have going here in Newton.

Heros

I find myself looking at a long weekend with Veteran's Day coming up.  I want to say how very much I respect and appreciate all the Veterans and what they have done for our Country!  My dad flew in WWII with the Air Force and I am so proud of him.  With my dad gone, Veteran's Day is a day for me to rest and reflect. I can't imagine what it is like to put your life on the line for others.  You are all heros!

Saw a great quote today

Saw a great quote today: "A good scapegoat is nearly as welcome as a solution to the problem."  In fact, I would say that among politicians, particularly as we are gearing up for elections, a scapegoat is better than a solution, because it distracts the voters.

It's time for Jack-O-Lanterns

Here at the Kansan we're launching a pumpkin carving contest, wich I think is a cool idea. I decided, for the first time since I was a wee one, to make a jack-o-lantern. Granted, I can't win the $25, $15 or $10 prize offered in the online contest. But, I figure some roasted pumpkin seeds (one of my favorite snacks) is reward enough.
